For the second year running, 20 lucky Cafe Racer magazine readers will share a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of the massive, five-day Las Vegas Mecum Motorcycle Auction. The nation’s largest powersports auction house will stage the annual event at the South Point Hotel and Casino from Wednesday, January 29 through Sunday, February 2. The event attracts over 2,000 rare, classic and antique motorcycles with selections ranging from full-on competition racebikes to early 20th century rides and, in recent years, legendary street machines from Japan, Europe and America.
The tours will take place on Friday and Saturday at 9 am, with Cafe Racer editor Mike Seate and Mecum’s in-house consignment specialist Craig Mallery leading winners on a fascinating walk through the immense pre-staging areas of the South Point’s exhibit hall. There, readers will have first glance at the vast array of available motorcycles representing every marquee and style ever produced.
Along the way, the tour provides insight into the extensive logistics, preparation and staging of the auction where a rapid succession of two-wheeled machines are paraded across the stage for viewers both in attendance and from around the world via live video feed. And even though attendees may not plan on purchasing a pair of new wheels for their personal collections, Mecum offers shipping services directly to your garage as well as instant credit should you be bitten by the bidding bug…
Starting on November 1, interested parties can send an email with full name, address and daytime phone number to us via rockersrule@caferacermag.com. To decrease the number of no-shows, we request that all entrants be registered as bidders for the auction before registering for the tour and be willing to share their bidder number with Cafe Racer magazine in their application email.
