A correction of sorts is in order due an error in this issue’s Paddock section. We mentioned the upcoming J. Wood and Company Auction slated for Saturday, September 28 that the auction is for “the late” Jack Weaver, though Mr. Weaver, a longtime MX racer from the Northeast, is still very much alive, we’re told. The former modern and vintage off-road racer amassed a sizeable collection of cool bikes, mostly motocrossers, and some choice street machines as well. “He’s older now and moving to Florida to retire, and is selling his collection for his family’s benefit before he moves,” explained auction company honcho Jeff Wood.
The veteran auctioneers are facilitating the sale of 110 motorcycle that includes a very tasty 1967 Triumph 650 racer with dual, high-pipes, a sweet, 1979 Yamaha Daytona 400 cafe racer replete with a handmade aluminum fuel tank and two-stroke engine, and one of the best 750cc Norton Commando roadracers we’ve yet seen, featuring the bold, Norton-Villers yellow paint scheme, a Dunstall fairing, Works Performance shocks and tuned exhaust.
Wood says the auction, which kicks off at 9 am Saturday will also include some 40 years of motorcycle parts and memorabilia and will be preceded by a viewing on Friday the 27th from 10 until 3.
